TAKANORI ISHII

I am a Judo professional dedicated to merging elite competitive practice with rigorous scientific inquiry.
My work in systemic development is informed by extensive practical experience cultivated within the National Team environment. I have contributed to drafting the All Japan Judo Federation’s long-term development guidelines and currently serve as the Chair of the Innovative Pathway Special Committee (since 2024), focusing on structural modernization within the sport.
Academically, I specialize in data-driven coaching methodologies, including the biomechanics of throwing techniques and the development of objective rating systems for performance evaluation. My contributions to sports science include authoring numerous academic papers and serving as an international editorial board member.
Drawing on my background in high-performance coaching, I have also publicly engaged with the crucial discussion surrounding the “results-only” culture and the sometimes excessive personal sacrifice required of sports professionals.
